Grando Primary School

Education is one of the most important elements of a child's life. Many children in this world enter adulthood without the privilege of receiving basic education. This idea is mostly found in underdeveloped countries where children live in severe poverty. One of the places where poverty is at its extreme is in Africa. Moreover, even when the people from such countries try to educate their children, it is difficult to do so because minimum resources are available. One of the important resources in education is having a proper (accredited) school.

Grando Primary School in Burkina Faso, Africa was build to replace one of the older schools. The new school is build with local resources of the village with very minimum cost. The fascinating thing about this school is its structure of the roof, which enables the air to circulate inside building, keeping the classrooms cool. Also, the windows in the building and the roof allows light to come inside the building, making it bright. This building has improved the education for the children in the village and is also a recipient of Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
